Looking Forward

I can see God changing the seasons before my eyes. I have noticed so much more this year with His spirit living within me. Everything has had so much more beauty. I find that I am anxiously awaiting what God will allow me to see this year during the Fall season.

Mother's Day

My mom and I have been going to visit my brother together on Thursdays for a while now. Afterwards we stop at this donut shop along the way and get a couple of dozen of donuts. It has been a really great time for us. Yesterday however, I just got an extra dose of joy, just being there with her. We were listening to a song by Chris Tomlin "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone). It was a time for appreciation of the wonderful person my mom is, and a time of worship. And just as we have in the weeks before, we stopped at that same donut shop, and got a couple dozen of donuts. I silently thank God all the time for the woman my mother is, for the importance of family she has instilled into me, and the values she has taught me.

Caching

I was able to get my cousin to come out Geocaching with us. We dubbed him Old Man River. We had a really great time (even if my GPS did decide not to work). He's showing off his whistle he retrieved from one of the cahces.

We actually ran into a garter snake on the way. I have to thank God for protecting my children along the way. They were the ones who spotted it. Had it been any other snake, Im pretty sure it would have tried to attack.

Bright Flowers

The kids and I took a brief walk through the graveyard and we saw this beautiful bush. I believe it is an azalea bush.

With the sun hitting it the way it was, I was just in awe.

I know that in heaven, there will be things that surpass the things we see here on earth. Just...wow!

Connecting the Circuit

We were working with electricity and how it works in homeschool. The kids found out exactly what you need to connect a circuit, and make use of the power source.

Words: circuit, conductor, insulator, load, resistor, energy, electron, positive, negative, "short", current, flow, voltage

We also explored survival with a 9 volt battery. You can use it, in conjuction with steel wool, to start a fire. The battery sends a charge through the steel wool that is too much to handle, causing it to ignite. If one had some tinder (dry grass, wood shavings, etc...), it would begin burning with a little work, and luck.

Pirate Coin

I bought a pirate pin over the weekend. I had to create a mold to get the outward impression, but I think it turned out great. I initially used black polymer clay for the coin, and then used acrylic gold paint to rub over the outside. Gives the gold a tarnished look.

This makes me think back to Captain Barbossa's Pirate Loot, a cache we found not too long ago. This would have been a great addition to it.

I thought a pirate themed cache would be something really nice to create. Place some educational information about pirates and privateers of the old days. :)

Faux Leather Impression - Dragonfly

My daughter got a rubber stamp a while back. I felt it would look good on the faux leather polymer clay.
